Kurtz, 75, a former city treasurer and Calumet County clerk, died early today at Calumet Memorial Hospital after an illness of six years. He made his home at 45 Baldwin St. Born in Milwaukee on Oct. 9, 1883, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs.

He is Ronald F. Klein, 912 Indiana who was arrested by police Tuesday afternoon for the theft of $80 from the Clark Service Station, 803 S. 8th St. Peter Degenhardt, station manager, told police $30 was stolen from the station office on Jan. 31, and $50 on Feb.

1. He said Klein had been in the station on both those days. Klein subsequently admitted to police that he had taken the money. Recently Klein was placed on probation to the State Department of Public Welfare by a Manitowoc court on a charge of car theft. Now that he has broken probation he will serve out that term at the reformatory, according to police.

Martin G. Glaeser who made their home for many years on N. 15th St. Prof. Glaeser completed his high school training here in 1906, received his A.

B. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1911, and received his Ph. D. degree from Harvard University in 1925. An internationally known authority on public utilities, Prof.

Glaeser helped draft utility legislation in Wisconsin and was instrumental in the development of the Tennessee Valley Authority. Now serving as professor of economics and commerce at the University of Wisconsin, he has reached the mandatory retirement age for University faculty members and will retire from that post in June. Ernest E. Anderson Ernest E. Anderson, 55, of 723-A S. 13th suffered a fatal heart attack at his home Tuesday afternoon. He was found lying on the kitchen floor by a neighbor, John Schicker, 729-A S.

13th who was delivering some wallboard to the Anderson home. Schicker told police he heard Anderson's dog barking in the house se and when he peered into a window he saw Anderson lyon the floor in front of the stove and the dog running about the room barking excitedly. When entry to the home was made, George Sloan, who lives with Anderson, was found in bed asleep. Sloan told police he and Anderson had eaten dinner at noon and then he had laid down to take a nap. Schicker, Sloan and other neighbors said that Anderson had been complaining of chest pains for the past several days.

(AP) Jack Frye, 54, pioneer flier who helped build one of the world's largest air transport firms, died in a traffic accident Tuesday night. A pilot with a flying record of 7,000 hours, Frye died when his car smashed into the side of a car that pulled into the road in front of him.

Sheriff's deputies said the impact hurled his body 40 feet. The other driver, identified as Rosabell M. Wright, 42, escaped with minor injuries." Frye was president of Standard Airlines of Los Angeles in 1927 when the firm pioneered airline service to the East. He also was a pilot for the company and flew the first commercial airliners into Phoenix and Tucson. 1930, Standard merged into the" Western Air Express and later that year into Transcontinental and Western Airlines, now Trans World Airlines.

He became president of TWA in 1934 when it had a payroll of 600. When he left 13 years later, the firm was a 70-million-dollar operation with more than employes. After leaving TVA, he became president of General Aniline Film Corp. of New York and later chairman of its board. Leo V. Leick 40, of 1522 S. 20th told police he was driving east on Georgia when he noticed four or five youngsters playing on the snowbanks between the sidewalk and curb. He slowed his car down, but the Decker youngster darted out into the street from in front of a parked car and was struck. The boy's body was underneath the Leick car when the vehicle came to a stop.

He was rushed to Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where an examination showed no injuries. The lad was bundled up in heavy winter clothing, which no doubt saved him from injury. Sentencing Is Delayed Today The sentencing of Merritt Palmer, 24, Black River, one of two men being charged with the holdup of an Elkhart Lake filling station on Jan. 20, tentatively set for today in County Municipal Court, was not completed up to press time today. Palmer and James McDonnough, 30, of 830 High both entered pleas of guilty at their arraignment Monday.

No sentencing date was set for McDonnough because of previous commitments by his courtappointed counsel. Deputy Clerk Jack H. Roth said there was a possibility that Judge Clarence F.
